Kharam recognized marriage as a vitally sacred institution of society and considered it ordained for the procreation of children, the continuation of the social unit, and the provision of a helping hand in an individual's day-to- ay economic activities. Kharam has its own customary laws, which emphasize community solidarity, clan exogamy, and a sacred institution that strengthens kinship ties, preserves cultural identity, and maintains social harmony. Polygamy, in any form, is strictly forbidden among them. Bride price is compulsory, and marriage involves the entire village. Marriage plays a vital role in the social and cultural life of Kharam. This paper examines the customs, rituals, and practices of Kharam traditional marriage, highlighting their symbolic meanings and roles in community life. The paper provides a deeper understanding of how marriage functions as an important cultural foundation in Kharam society and contributes to the preservation of its heritage and identity.

The present study explores the religiosity associated with the Kamakhya Temple, one of the most revered Shakti shrines in North Eastern India, through an empirical analysis of devotees’ experiences and perceptions. Revered as a living embodiment of the divine feminine and associated with fertility, creation, and cosmic power, Kamakhya has long attracted pilgrims, seekers, and ritual specialists from diverse regions and social backgrounds. Beyond its theological significance, the shrine functions as a powerful cultural symbol that shapes regional identity, collective memory and everyday religiosity in Assam. The experiential dimension of faith associated with Kamakhya- expressed through pilgrimage, vow-making, ritual participation, and personal devotion- offers a rich field for anthropological inquiry into lived religion and sacred perception. Drawing on primary data collected via a structured questionnaire survey, the research investigates how pilgrims and visitors conceptualize the sacredness, ritual efficacy and spiritual significance of Kamakhya in their personal and collective religious lives. The objective is to illuminate the dimensions of faith, devotion, and symbolic meaning that shape religious attitudes toward the shrine in contemporary Assam.

Megaliths and megalithic culture are an important part of the cultural heritage of Northeast India, where stone monuments remain closely linked with social life, rituals, beliefs, and traditions. These monuments symbolize the relationship between people, memory, and material culture across the region. Sikkim, one of the northeastern states of India, preserves a rich megalithic tradition among its three major ethnic groups — the Lepcha, Bhutia, and Nepali. The megaliths found in the state can be broadly classified into monolithic and polylithic types. They differ in size, shape, and arrangement, reflecting the use of locally available stone and indigenous construction knowledge. In Sikkim, megaliths mainly serve socio-cultural, religious, and commemorative purposes. They are associated with rituals, festivals, community gatherings, ancestor remembrance, deity worship, and expressions of identity and collective memory. These traditions are especially visible in the ritual practices of the Lepcha, Bhutia, and Nepali communities. This paper studies the megalithic tradition of Sikkim through an ethno-archaeological perspective. The study is qualitative in nature. Data were collected primarily from field and gazetteers, books, journal articles provided the secondary information. The paper tries to provide an overall understanding of the living megalithic tradition of Sikkim.

Background: A growing burden of hypertension is a major public health challenge worldwide. Previous findings indicate that it is typically higher among older age groups, but nowadays individuals tend to develop elevated blood pressure at an earlier age due to lifestyle changes. The tribal people's lifestyle has been changing, which has led them to develop different health conditions. Therefore, the present study was designed to examine the association between physical activity and hypertension among the Bhumij tribal community of Jioldanga village. Methodology: In this cross-sectional study, only adult males aged ?18 years were selected. The sample size consists of 107 male participants. A simple random sampling method was used to select the participants. All statistical analyses were performed using SPSS (IBM version 25) with a p < 0.05 level of significance (two-tailed). Findings and recommendations: The prevalence of hypertension is found to be high in this community; the prevalence of SBP and DBP was 59.8% and 63.6%, respectively. Approximately 27.12% of the participants were classified as having a low level of physical activity. Significantly higher odds (OR = 56.00, 95% CI: 6.409 to 24.338, p < 0.001) were observed in the low PAL category when compared with high PAL.

Keywords: Bhumij, hypertension, lifestyle, physical activity.

The deterministic approach which examines causal variables that shape families was adopted in this paper to establish the relationship between family diversity and socio-demographic factors . Therefore, our objective was to explain the correlation that exist between family diversity in Maroua and socio-demographic characteristics such as religious affiliation, income, ethnic groups, level of education etc. The quota sampling method was used to ensure the equal representation of male and female in the sample. We administered 849 questionnaires 432 to men (50.9%) and 412 to women (49.1%). Equally, the number of questionnaires administered in each quarter was determined by its size. The systematic sampling method was used, we started the administration of questionnaires from a particular household and then skip five households before selecting the next household. We obtained the following results: If one is a monogamist, the higher the probability that one will be highly educated, have a legalized relationship, be younger, have a prestigious job and consequently earn a higher income and the reverse is true with polygynists There is a very significant relationship between family diversity and income, level of education, age, occupation, religion, ethic groups, legality of the relation and family size.

The Dynamics of Media and Mass Communication in a Digital Age

Interactions between people have existed, in some form or another, from the dawn of time. In terms of human connection and communication, things have gone a long way in the past few decades, even exceeding the most astounding achievements of the last few thousand years. This context makes use of every modality that has emerged during the digital era. The internet, radio, and television have not only broken down boundaries but also altered the ways in which people receive and send information. More modern modes of communication have largely replaced letters like, and the standard for contemporary discourse has been increased as a result. Examining people's social media speech habits and terminology is the main goal of this research. Since the 1960s, a range of societal and cultural shifts have impacted the development of digital media. The acceleration of globalisation processes, the shift from modernity to postmodernity, and the post-industrial information age replacing the manufacturing era were some of these shifts. The emergence of new media platforms like digital and internet media was one outcome of this transformation. Different concepts, users, and logics are examined in the media logic shift, which also highlights the false separation between old and new media, digital and internet, and other changing forms of media. Online media revolves around the Internet, the archetypal new medium. The widespread use of computers and mobile phones has caused online media to shift their focus to the connecting mechanism.
